Shannon & Jose – Loughcrew Estate Wedding
New elopement wedding location for one of the last weddings of 2019 at the Loughcrew Estate . Loughcrew Estate is a 17th and 19th Century Irish landscape steeped in compelling history, with numerous scenic gardens and pleasant walk to enjoy. Home to the St. Oliver Plunkett Family Church , the central six-acre expanse was restored by generations of designers leading back to Charles Robert Cockerell, an innovator of neo-classical architecture.
…we spent most of the wedding ceremony switching between tears and laughter. It was the perfect Loughcrew Estate Wedding!…
How you met & when?
We met when we were 17 & 18 years old, working at a grocery store together (I was technically his boss!). We started hanging out as friends, and pretty soon after we started dating. We’ve basically been attached at the hip ever since (19 years and counting)!
The Proposal
We’d been dating for about 3 years. It was Valentine’s Day, and we had planned to go have a nice dinner when we got home from work. We were both a little exhausted and decided maybe we just stay in for the night to avoid the crowds and go out on the weekend. I was going to take a shower, then I saw him… he set up a candlelit bubble bath, which I thought was really sweet since work was really kicking my butt that week. I walked into the bathroom and he proposed at that moment. It was perfect.
Wedding Day
After a ton of research, we chose Peach Perfect Weddings as our wedding planner. Lorraine handled all correspondence and gave incredible suggestions as far as florist/wedding photographer /venue / etc.. We had a few things (such as the venue Loughcrew Estate Wedding) that we had a specific idea about, but we were more than happy to let her take the reigns! She had brilliant ideas that lead to a perfect day! We didn’t have a particular wedding theme that we were going for, just wanted to have fun! And definitely accomplished that goal.
Attire
I purchased the wedding dress online from Grace Loves Lace . I came across their Instagram account and fell in love with SO many dresses, but I knew instantly that my wedding dress was the one. The beautiful lace detail on the sleeves was particularly eye-catching!
Jose purchased his outfit from UT Kilts . He wears kilts pretty regularly, and wanted to really go all out for our wedding! He chose the All Ireland tartan as a nod to my Irish roots.
Wedding Flowers – Stationery – Dinner
My flowers were a beautiful assortment of red and white roses. I gave a few examples of the color scheme I was looking for for our wedding planner. The florist really knocked it out of the park!
When we got home to California we had a small reception (we took our closest friends ax-throwing!). Ordered our invitations and thank you cards from Minted . They had 2 skeletons that read “Till death do us part”. They were a big hit!
Our wedding planner gave us a few restaurant suggestions for our big night. We decided on Mr. Fox in Dublin . The atmosphere, the service, and the food were incredible! Since it was just the two of us, we decided not to have a wedding cake. We had an awesome dessert at Mr. Fox instead.
Favorite Moments of your wedding day
My favorite moment had to be when I first walked into the church (St. Oliver Plunkett’s Church) ruins and saw Jose standing there, waiting for me with a giant smile and tears in his eyes. Not only was the wedding venue so majestic and breathtaking (this was our first time seeing it in person), but seeing his face as I walked toward him was perfect.
Your experience with wedding photographer
Nerijus was everything you could possibly want in a wedding photographer! He put us at ease immediately. His calm, cool demeanor was just what we needed for the day! He was so much fun to have around. Very quick to find the perfect locations for photos. We were blown away by how amazing our wedding pictures turned out!!
…thank you so much for a chance to be part of your special day, I’m blessed to do what I love, tell stories through my photos, visiting new places, meeting new people…
