…one beautiful day in March 2018 he took me to a beach… shortly after he was down on one knee asking me to marry him…
Thank You, Lindsay & Shamus, for sharing your love story on my Wedding blog post. I’m sure couples will get inspiration and ideas helping them to plan the wedding they always dreamed of…
We met as many people do these days- romantically online! I, unfortunately, I bailed on several of our first dates (due to valid reasons), but he was persistent & patient! We had our first date in February of 2016. After a few months of dating, we took a trip to Aruba, and that’s when I knew.. I was going to marry this man! Shamus grew up on Martha’s Vineyard – a small Massachusetts island south of Cape Cod. He took me there for our third date and I, of course, fell in love with the place. When visiting the island offseason we really enjoy packing a picnic, grabbing a bottle of wine (or two) and driving out on one of the local beaches to enjoy the ocean/beach views. One beautiful day in March 2018 he took me to a beach I had never been to before – Lucy Vincent. We did our typical picnic routine and shortly after that, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was a perfect day. Being a small island, there were, of course, coincidental acquaintances taking a walk on the beach who were able to capture the whole thing!
Wedding Day, wedding venue Cliff at Lyons, Kildare wedding theme Irish Elegance. Wedding Planner/Stylist: Gabi Kmitas from Petal & Twine. I found her on Instagram! I was constantly trying to find photos of weddings in Ireland and I coincidentally came across a photoshoot she had done at our wedding venue. Her style is so natural, organic and beautiful. I knew I needed her for our big day!
I originally had plans to go dress shopping at a well known upscale bridal boutique in NYC. I decided to check out a small local shop here on the Cape. I was pleasantly surprised by the boutique’s selection and excited to know they carried a designer who is actually from Ireland! How perfect was that? I left that day with a beautiful gown designed by the fabulous Don O’Neil of Theia Couture. Shamus was dressed Custom Canali suit done by Louis Copeland & Sons.
I wanted to keep the arrangements informal and more wild/organic with different textures. Frog Prince Weddings was very attentive and brought our floral visions to life!
Since our wedding size was on the smaller spectrum I was dying to have one long table for our dinner. I think a long table looks so romantic. The Cliff at Lyons made that possible and with Gabi’s magical touch and fine attention to detail we were so happy with how the dining room turned out.
We used Minted for our save the dates and wedding invitations. We knew we wanted our invitations to include some type of classy greenery/foliage design. We worked as a team to put them together and mastered the use of our wax seal stamp!
We wanted to have all the food the Cliff at Lyons had to offer. Every choice we tried was amazing! I really enjoyed the idea of having a 4-course meal, so that’s just what we did! Everything was fabulous. We opted to break tradition and not do a wedding cake. We offered several dessert options for guests to choose from after dinner instead.
Favorite Moments: — Walking down the aisle to see Shamus! We did not do a first look and I truly believe it made that initial moment at the ceremony so special. I also loved the cocktail hour. We had a fabulous traditional Irish band playing while guests enjoyed canapés & cocktails and really took in all the beautiful aspects the Cliff at Lyons has to offer.
Thank You so much for your feedback, it means a lot to me:
Shamus and I originally considered eloping in Ireland. I naturally started googling “eloping in Ireland” and came across a company you were photographing for (Peach Perfect Weddings). Your photos looked like they were straight out of a magazine! I immediately started stalking your social media accounts and we knew we just had to have you! I didn’t reach out to any other photographers. I think we made an excellent choice ;). Nerijus made the whole process of capturing our wedding so easy! This was the first time Shamus and I had been professionally photographed together. Nerijus is a professional and made us feel totally comfortable. Highly recommend!
