Erica & Christopher
It was a great elopement wedding day at the Cliffs of Moher, Hags Head co. Clare filled with smiles, tears, happiness, and joy. Thank you so much for having me around, and be a witness of something very special.
…She asked us to turn around and reveal what we said and I wrote “His eyes” and Christopher wrote, “Will you marry me?”…
How you met & when?
We met in 2014 at his Air Force basic training ceremony in Texas. My brother was in basic training with Christopher and introduced us. It wasn’t until a year later that we started talking again through Facebook. I was honestly the first one to initiate the conversation! We started dating long distance since he was still stationed in Texas and I was working on my degree at a university in Chicago, IL. The long-distance lasted for 3.5 years until he was stationed in Dayton, Ohio and I was finishing college. We were finally able to physically be together once I moved to Ohio and it was 1.5 years after this that he proposed.
The Proposal
Christopher surprised me with a family photo shoot at a park with our beloved senior Saint Bernard. Zoey (our dog) was turning 9 in several months, which is very old for the breed and I was worried about how much longer she would be with us. So, I was thinking of setting up a professional photoshoot for us, but Christopher went ahead and surprised me with one so I didn’t suspect a thing! Near the end of the shoot, the photographer asked if she could get a couple of shots of us with this new idea she wanted to try out at one of her favorite bridges in the park. Her idea involved Christopher and I standing with our backs touching and chalkboards in hand. She asked us to write what we loved about the other and then we would turn around and surprise each other with our answers. She asked us to turn around and reveal what we said and I wrote “His eyes” and Christopher wrote, “Will you marry me?” Once we turned around, I saw his chalkboard and him starting to kneel on one knee with the most beautiful ring. I was stunned and immediately started crying while also saying
“Don’t you f**k with me!” and throwing my chalkboard on the ground. :))) Now after the swearing and the crying, I was able to finally stammer out a yes and the best part was that it was all caught on camera.
Wedding Planner/Stylist
We used the company Peach Perfect Weddings and our wedding planner was Lorraine Orr. She supplied the hair and makeup stylist from Glamour Eyes. I wanted to go more rustic feeling with the flowers. Kept my hair natural with slightly more waves put into the style. Also I tried to keep the makeup simple with some purple eyeshadow to make my brown eyes pop just a little bit.
Wedding Dress
I got a dress with a “V” dip back and front. Some florals ad beading on the bodice. The bodice was tight and then flowed straight down at the hips. I got it at the wedding district in Cincinnati, OH. It was the last shop I went to after going to 4 of them. I tried on a wide variety of dresses that were out of my price range, so this store was the last place that could possibly help me find my dream dress. The consultant that I had was able to find me a dress in my price range and was exactly what I was looking for. She got it first try and I knew it was the perfect gown.
Grooms Suit
Custom made suit at a tailor in Dayton, OH. Christopher always wanted a suit that had the paisley design incorporated into it somehow and we did that in the back fo the vest which you can see in the pictures. He had a jacket, but I asked him not to wear it, so we could go for a more relaxed rustic feel. I wanted him to show off the pattern in the vest.
Favorite Moments of your wedding day
Christopher’s favorite moments were when he first saw me (the reveal) at our cottage and the first kiss after we were pronounced husband and wife.
My (Erica) favorite moments were also “the reveal” because I made Christopher cry resulting in me crying as well. It was a very personal moment that I even forgot that Nerijus was there taking pictures. The handfasting ceremony and our Oathing stone were good aspects of our ceremony. It is honestly really hard to choose any one moment because the entire day was perfect. It was just about us. We didn’t invite our family and friends, so we didn’t have to worry about that stress at all.
And experience with Photographer 🙂
Nerijus was the perfect photographer! Really fun and relaxed to be around. Coming up with a lot of good shots and poses and I was just extremely happy with the result. He exceeded our expectations!
Thank You so much for sharing your story…
