Mary & Galen
Today’s photoblog back from 2018 wedding, elopement love story at the Bantry House, Bantry co. Cork, a stately home situated on the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking Bantry Bay in the southwest of Ireland. Great place for an intimate elopement or small destination wedding. Thank you Mary & Galen for having me with you to capture does special moments.
…Mary knew that Galen was the one when randomly they crossed paths unknowingly in traffic. At a stoplight, Galen rushed out of his car, ran up to Mary’s window, and kissed her until the light turned green…
How you met & when?
They met in July 2012 on a blind date set up by Galen’s best friend. Galen was very nervous & shy. It wasn’t until Mary gave Galen her number that they started talking regularly. In September, Galen had a chance to move away to follow a job opportunity. He realized that doing so would mean being away from Mary. He declined the offer, and Galen and Mary have been together ever since. Mary knew that Galen was the one when randomly they crossed paths unknowingly in traffic. At a stoplight, Galen rushed out of his car, ran up to Mary’s window, and kissed her until the light turned green.
The Proposal
On the last day of July 2016, 4 years after meeting, Galen and Mary had gone to the Renaissance fair, a tradition they have every year. They were taking a moment’s rest in the fairy garden, one of Mary’s favorite spots. Galen had started mentioning how this was one of his favorite spots and how much he loved Mary. Completely oblivious to what was going on, it wasn’t until Galen started to cry that Mary knew what was happening. Surrounded by their family and friends they got engaged under an old oak tree in that lovely garden.
Favorite Moments of your wedding day
The most incredible moment of the day was when the rain stopped and everything aligned perfectly to have an ethereal grey garden wedding. Seeing each other for the first time made both of us realize how incredibly fortunate we were to be sharing such a beautiful moment in our history.
Share your experience with the photographer ( thank you for that 🙂 )
Nerijus was so incredible. Neither of us had ever worked with a photographer before. He gave us excellent direction to create stunning photographs. Incorporated not just the bride and groom but also the scenery and majesty of the moment. He captured not just the imagery, but the feelings of each second of the day. When we look back on our pictures it is like stepping back into that moment of time. A perfect portal that takes us back to that garden and fills our hearts with all the love and magic that we felt that wonderful day in September.
Thank You so much for sharing your story…
